MSUFCU Construction Update 6-27-2022

Steel erection is complete and we are breaking down and removing the crane from the site. Steel deck is being installed on the remaining floors and will be complete by the end of the week. The mechanical and plumbing contractor is currently onsite working on layout, installing underground for the slab-on-grade, and overhead layout. The HVAC contractor is also onsite installing overhead mechanical units. We are working on earth work and grading for the first floor to accommodate the first slab-on-grade pour and the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) underground. The concrete slab on decks have been placed on all floors from column line 4 to 7. We will be pouring the penthouse slab on the roof and the remaining concrete on floors 6 and 7 on 6/30. A concrete pump will be onsite at roughly 6 a.m. those days to start pouring concrete at 7 a.m. The fireproofing contractor is currently installed up to the 6th floor and will be temporarily demobilized. We are pouring the final corner of footings and foundations and while the ground is opened up, we will install the utility tie-ins for the building. Hydraulic scaffolding has been erected on the east side of the building and is being erected on the southeast side to accommodate the exterior enclosure trades. The framing contractor is currently building out the parapet at the top of the building and will begin exterior wall framing shortly.

Albert Ave. remains closed to through traffic. This closure will remain in effect through the summer and is expected to be removed prior to student move-in for Michigan State University. The lane closures on Abbot Rd. will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. The south access to the alley off Albert Ave. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for the duration of overhead work to help ensure safety. The alley is accessible from the north.
