Demolition of bank building leads Park District development

Demolition of the former bank building at the corner of East Grand River Avenue and Abbot Road is the most recent visual sign of East Lansing’s Park District development.

The building was demolished Oct. 7-8, and crews are currently working to clean up the site.

Next up, the buildings at 134-140 W. Grand River Ave. will be leveled, and clean up is expected to be complete by December 2017.

The developer, DRW Holdings LLC/Convexity Properties, is revising its project proposal because agreement was not reached between DRW and the former owner about a previously approved state tax credit.

DRW owns the privately held properties within the Park District. Another building within the district, the former Evergreen Arms apartments at 341-345 Evergreen Ave., was demolished in 2016.
