Downtown Construction Update 8-31-18

Center City

Construction labor hours eclipsed 100,000 as Center City continues its ascent. This week, the 11th concrete pour out of 20 on the East will take place and concrete pours will continue next week. Underground work continues on the project.

On the Grand River side, metal decking and panels continue to be installed. The concrete pour for floor #6 is planned for this week and next. Exterior skin activities are taking off and starting to turn vertical, with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing trades beginning to work their way up as well. Testing and inspection occurred and the Target space has received a TCO to turnover to Target and their contractor.

Consumers Energy Gas Line

Consumers Energy continues with the installation of a new gas main in the alley of the 100/200 of E. Grand River Ave. The gas main has been installed and the crew will now continue with tie-ins to the gas main during the week of 09/03. During this work Consumers Energy will have extended construction hours from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday (09/04) through Friday, (09/07).

The Hub @ East Lansing

Work continues as concrete is the main focus as vertical progress is visible on site. An increase in truck traffic continues to be expected as more materials and equipment make their way on site. The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary.

Parking Garage Repairs

The facilities repair project for the Grove Street, Charles Street and Division Street Parking Garages have been completed.
