MSUFCU Construction Update 5-16-2022

Structural steel erection of the center third of the building is ongoing in conjunction with the north precast wall infill. Precast installation is expected to be completed this week. Steel will continue on the final third of the building at the west building line, with an expected completion date of early June. The mechanical and plumbing contractor is currently onsite working on layout and installing underground for the slab on grade. We are working on earth work and grading for the first floor to accommodate the first slab on grade pour and the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) underground. The first concrete pour is scheduled for May 20. We will install loading platforms from the third through seventh floors on May 25. Granger will have a second crane onsite starting May 18 to help with construction material loading.
Starting May 16, Albert Ave. will be closed to through traffic between Abbot Rd. and the Abbot Apartments garage entrance. This closure is to facilitate our second crane placement starting May 18. This closure will be in effect for the summer, and is expected to be removed prior to MSU student move in. The lane closures on Abbot Rd. will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. The south access to the alley off Albert Ave. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for the duration of overhead work to help ensure safety. The alley is accessible from the north.
