Construction Update 07-26-19

Park District

For the corner building, more work occurred on the 4th floor this week, as post-tensioning and additional concrete pours took place. The contractor is on track to complete the transfer slab in early August, when they will transition to the placement of cold form steel for the floors above. Early August is also the target for underground utility work to mobilize on site.

On the hotel site, the project continues to go vertical with the elevator core reaching the second floor and more columns formed and poured. The plumbing sub-contractor is mobilized on site, with underground plumbing taking place in advance of slab-on-grade concrete pours.

Center City

The Grand River building is largely complete, with final inspections underway this week. Occupancy for the apartment buildings is expected to be authorized in the near future. Target is fully open on the ground floor.

On the Albert side, the North elevation metal trim details and other finishes continues. The final exterior concrete pour took place this week in the alley to the east of the Albert building. Exterior paver work is focused along Albert Avenue, with significant progress taking place this week. Balconies have arrived and will be installed in the coming weeks.

The Hub @ East Lansing

Finishes, punch list, final cleaning, and final inspections are ongoing at all residential floors and finishes are ongoing in the common/amenity areas. Metal panels on the tower are ongoing. Roofing is complete with pavers at the high roof on going and to be complete in the next week or so. The sidewalk along Grand River has been closed and will remain closed until all work on that side of the building is complete. Landscape pavers continue to work across the north side of the site. Plants are being installed in the ground level planters. Grand River sidewalk, curb and gutter, and sidewalk have are complete with the alley to be repaved following water main work. Deliveries will continue with all of the finish materials that need to go into the building.

On Monday morning, 7/29, the lane closure currently in effect is expected to shift further to the North. Eastbound traffic will be diverted into the center lane to make room for a crane required for the delivery and installation of a trellis. Westbound traffic will continue to use two lanes. This work is expected to occur until about 3pm, at which time the traffic controls will revert to their current configuration.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes.
