Utility Work – Water Main Installation

Beginning Tuesday, May 28, 2019, a water main replacement project will be taking place at the east end of the alley located behind the Grand River Avenue businesses/buildings between Abbot Road and M.A.C. Avenue.

In order to ensure safety during the work, it is necessary to close the east end of the alley (from Lou and Harry’s to M.A.C. Ave.) as well as southbound M.A.C. Ave., between Albert Ave. and Grand River Ave. for approximately two weeks. Traffic headed southbound on M.A.C. Ave. towards Grand River Ave. will be detoured via Albert Ave. to southbound Charles Street.

This work will entail the replacement of an old water main, and new connections to buildings.

East Lansing Department of Public Works staff will be on site throughout the project. City staff will be visiting businesses affected by the closure to coordinate access and other items.
