Construction Update 11-16-18

Center City

On the Grand River building, exterior “skin” is being installed, adding elements of color to the façade. Framers have made their way to the 7th floor of the interior, with the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Trades continuing to make their way up as well. Level 10 was poured this week, with wall panels placed as well. The final two floors should be installed within the next month or so.

On the Albert side, this week another pour took place on the eastern side of level 6. This is the transfer slab, topping out the parking structure onto which the upper residential floors will be placed. On the west side, level 5 is planned to be poured next week. Brick work continues on the exterior façade, as all of the trades are now working within the interior.

There will be extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 11/20 or Wednesday, 11/21, for a large concrete pour for the Albert building. The concrete pour is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. The contractor has agreed to minimize any project noise during the extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

The Hub @ East Lansing

Level 4 floor has been completely poured out. The level 4 walls have begun to be installed with the trusses for the ceiling and the decking for level 5 lagging close behind. Interior walls in the podium levels have begun (both stud and masonry walls). Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades continue roughing in the garage, first floor, and mezzanine, and working their way up the building.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes. The southern alley is closed and parking has been relocated to East Café across the street.
