Construction Update 11-09-18

Center City

This week on the Grand River side the exterior “skin’ is being installed, as metal panels and windows continue to make their way up to the higher floors. Masonry work continues as finishing touches take place on the ground floor façade. The framers have made their way to the 7th floor, as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors continue their work. Meanwhile the panels for the 10th floor have been placed. On the Albert side, a 6th level pour was completed on the east side this week, with a pour scheduled for early next week on the west side. Masonry work continues on the interior of the site as well.

There will be extended hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, 11/10, to set up for a concrete pour for the Grand River building. The concrete pour is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. The contractor has agreed to minimize any project noise during the extended hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Level 3 concrete is now complete. Placement of structural stud walls on the third floor continues and the second 3rd of level 4 will be poured Monday, 11/12. The level 4 walls will begin to go up middle to end of next week. Metal stairs have been prepped and poured up to level 3. The utilities that run through the alley on the south side of the building will be completed today 11/9. Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades continue roughing in the garage, first floor, and mezzanine, beginning to work their way up the building.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes.
