Construction Update 09-28-18

Center City

This week, concrete was poured for the 5th floor on the east side of the Albert Ave. Building. Masons have returned to start work on shear walls and exterior masonry walls.

On the Grand River building, the 7th floor panels are being set with a plan to pour concrete for level 8 next week. The buck hoist (exterior construction elevator) is being constructed. It will be located within the construction site, on the west side (near the alley closure). Per the state safety requirements, the buck hoist will be inspected by the state elevator inspector and have a dedicated operator with special training. It is expected to be ready for use as early as 10/6.

Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing work is taking place on the interior of the Grand River building, and windows are being installed beginning on lower floors and moving upward.

Consumers Energy Gas Line –Connections to Businesses

Consumers Energy is working to make service connections to the gas main. Work will be taking place at the west end of the 100/200 block of E. Grand River Ave. alley beginning Wednesday, 10/3. The work in the alley is anticipated to be completed the week of 10/8. Consumers Energy will coordinate any service disruptions with adjacent businesses.

The Hub @ East Lansing

The third and final pour of level 2 is occurring today (9/28). Shoring for level 3 has started from the west side of the building and is working towards the east. First pour of level 3 is planned for 10/10. Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades continue roughing in the garage and first floor, beginning to work their way up the building. Backfill of the foundations is nearing completion, reducing dump truck and earthmoving equipment traffic in and around the site.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes. The southern alley is closed and parking has been relocated to East Café across the street.
