Construction Update 09-14-18
Center City
Work continued this week on the Albert building with the placement of shear walls and slab-on-grade concrete pours. A pour for level 4 of the parking deck is planned for early next week, weather permitting.
Level 7 of the Grand River building was poured this week, with more panel placements planned to follow. Plans are being finalized for the installation of a buck hoist (external elevator) within the next few weeks.
Consumers Energy Gas Line – Partial Road Closures
Consumers Energy continues with the tie-ins to the gas main. Work on Evergreen Ave. and Albert Ave., west of Abbot Road, is scheduled during the week of 09/17. Evergreen Ave. between Grand River Ave. and Albert Ave., and Albert Ave., between Abbot Road and Evergreen Ave., will have partial road closures during this work. Vehicular and pedestrian detours will be in place during this work.
The Hub @ East Lansing
Level 1 concrete slabs are complete. The contractor will be starting to pour the 2nd floor on Friday (09/14). There will be additional pours for the 2nd floor on the following two Fridays (09/21 & 09/28), as well. Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades continue roughing in the garage and first floor, beginning to work their way up the building. Backfill of the foundations is nearing completion, reducing dump truck and earthmoving equipment traffic in and around the site.
The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes. The southern alley is closed and parking has been relocated to East Café across the street.
