Construction Update

Center City

This week, concrete pours continue on the east side, placing the first level 5 section. Moving to the west side concrete pours have commenced and will continue next week. Underground work continues on the project.

On the Grand River side, metal decking and panels continue to be installed, currently on level 6 walls and level 7 decking. The concrete pours for floor #6 were both poured this week. Exterior skin activities are taking off and starting to turn vertical, with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing trades beginning to work their way up as well.

Evergreen Ave. between Grand River Ave. and Albert Ave., and Albert Ave., between Abbot Road and Evergreen Ave., will have partial road closures on Monday (09/10) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Tuesday (09/11) through Friday (09/14) from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Vehicular and pedestrian detours will be in place during this work. The Hub @ East Lansing

Foundation walls are nearly complete. Level 1 concrete slabs are also nearly complete. Decking for Level 2 is in progress, with pours for Level 1 Mezzanine nearing completion. Concrete placement will continue on a regular basis, utilizing closed roads or the alley directly adjacent to the project to minimize impacts to traffic/pedestrians. Deliveries will continue to increase, as Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Suppression trades begin roughing in the garage and first floor, beginning to work their way up the building. Backfill of the foundations is nearing completion, reducing dump truck and earthmoving equipment traffic in and around the site.

The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary based on delivery volumes. The southern alley is closed and parking has been relocated to East Café across the street. Banners were installed last week along the covered walkway on East Grand River.
