Downtown Construction Update 8-17-18

Center City

This week on the Grand River side, level 5 was poured, and the fifth level wall panels were placed. Metal panels and walls are being installed in the retail area as progress continues in anticipation of transitioning the work to the tenant improvement contractor.

On the Albert side, another elevated deck pour took place Thursday (8/16), with more planned for the future.

The Hub @ East Lansing

2 elevated deck pours took place this week, as the structure reaches its first story in height. Plans are being finalized to close the alley south of the site and relocate Fraternity parking to the East Café parking lot in order to accommodate safe site access for construction.

An increase in truck traffic continues to be expected as more materials and equipment make their way on site. The contractor continues to monitor the site for safety and implement additional traffic control techniques as necessary.

Parking Garage Repairs

Work continues through the downtown Public Parking Garages with concrete and water-proofing repairs. Staff completed a walk-through through Grove, Charles, and Division garages to identify the final punch list items for the contractor. Grove is 100% complete, with the others expected to be completed by the end of next week.

Sidewalk Repairs

The last intersection scheduled for the sidewalk repair project along Albert Avenue at the Corner of Collingwood and Albert continued this week. A complete closure of the intersection with pedestrian and vehicle detours will continue to be in place for about another week.
