Upcoming Abbot Road Closures & Overnight Work
The Center City water and sewer portion of the infrastructure work currently taking place on Albert Avenue is making its way towards the mains which are located at the corner of Albert Ave. and Abbot Rd. Connections to the mains will require a shutdown of Abbot Road from Grand River to Albert Avenue, which is expected to occur during the nighttime hours on Thursday, May 17, Monday, May 21, and Tuesday May 22 from 7pm to 12 Midnight. Vehicles headed southbound on Abbot will be detoured to Oakhill Ave.
On the Grand River side, the contractor has been planning a large concrete pour in the elevated deck, which is weather dependant. An extended hours request has been approved for Friday, May 18 from 5:00AM to 11:00PM for this work. For text updates, please text EL BUZZ to 38470. This elevated deck is a post-tensioned structure that requires extra precaution and time be taken with the placement of the concrete to ensure the best quality end product. The contractor has agreed to minimize any project noise during the extended hours, especially from 5:00AM to 8:00AM. City staff and the construction company are reaching out to adjacent residents.
