Center City Project
The first major elevated deck pour was completed on Monday with over 500 yards of concrete pumped and placed. Concrete will continue to be a main activity as the project continues its vertical rise.
As noted earlier, Albert Avenue will be closed from the West side of Grove St. to Abbot Rd beginning on May 7th. Pedestrian access will be maintained as the work takes place. It is expected to take approximately six weeks and will include upgrades to underground public utilities, roadway resurfacing, the addition of new bike lanes and sidewalks and walkway replacement/ improvement. The trash container at the corner of M.A.C. and Albert has been removed to make way for the Art Festival and warmer weather. Businesses using the container have been provided another option for their trash removal needs.
The Hub at East Lansing Project
The first of two tower cranes has been erected on the site. Meanwhile, excavation is largely complete as the foundation work continues to take place. The covered walkway on Grand River is up and lighting will be installed soon
On both projects, truck traffic continues to be expected as materials (especially concrete) and equipment are transported to and from the site. City staff is monitoring area roadways to ensure proper cleanup occurs, especially as spring rains can cause muddy conditions that need to be managed properly. The construction companies will continue to examine their sites to mitigate any impacts to the local community.
