Construction Update 3-16-18

Concrete continues to be the main focus this week, The caps on the auger cast piles are now nearing completion, and more columns are going vertical every day. Masonry work and underground plumbing work has begun below grade, increasing the amount of trades on site, as well as the overall activity. Plans are being completed for a covered walkway adjacent to the site on Grand River avenue, which is expected to be installed early in the week of March 26th. This will ensure safe pedestrian access on the Grand River sidewalk while the building is being erected, and is expected to be in place for most of the projects duration.

Truck traffic (especially concrete) continues to be expected at the site. With the fluctuations in the weather causing a potentially muddy situation, the construction company is actively cleaning up the area on a regular basis. City staff is monitoring area roadways and ensuring that cleanup is managed properly. The construction company also continues to examine the site to mitigate any impacts to the local community.
