Construction Update: 11/30/17

The demolition team has made significant progress this week with the removal of a large portion of the buildings in the project area, as well as the surfaces in the former Lot 1. Work is expected to continue into next week with the sidewalk closure on Grand River remaining to ensure public safety. As always, access to all businesses will be maintained, with pedestrian detour signage in place. Staff, along with the Downtown Management Board is working on additional signage to underscore the message that businesses are open, and to help pedestrians find access to businesses adjacent to the project area.

In addition to the demolition, geotechnical evaluation is expected to take place very soon, including the drilling of test piles. Although the construction company is working to mitigate impacts of their work, some additional noise may be anticipated as this work commences.
